2ND Puritas Avenue Public Meeting, Wednesday, March 12th

Puritas Avenue’s future involves resurfacing and the potential for bike lanes in each direction from Rocky River Drive to W. 130th St. But that potential will not be realized if we don’t speak up for a safer Puritas Avenue at the second public meeting.

When: Wednesday, March 12th @ 6:30pm
Where: Blessed Trinity Cleveland (14040 Puritas Ave., Cleveland, OH), in the basement of the rectory (looks like a house) off the back parking lot.

We need people who support biking and walking at the meeting to speak up for a Puritas Avenue that meets the needs of all road users. Check out the notes from the last meeting and see all the details about Wednesday’s meeting on the announcement flyer.

Puritas Avenue will be receiving a well-deserved facelift next year and the plans are to make it safer for people on bikes by adding bike lanes. When: Tuesday January 14th at 6:30pm

From the City of Cleveland meeting announcement flyer here are all the details:

“The purpose of this meeting is to present the Puritas Ave Resurfacing plan to the public and to gather public input on that plan. The project limits are SR 237 to W. 130thStreet. The improvements include pavement repairs, spot curb repairs, sidewalk and driveways where necessary, replacement of inadequate catch basins, and ADA compliant ramps at all non-compliant locations.  The City would also like to add green space where widened driveways and sidewalks exist.

Final pavement markings will consist of a 3-lane roadway with one motor-vehicle travel lane in each direction and a center left turn lane.  5 foot bicycle lanes will be added in each direction.”

In short Puritas Avenue will be put on a road-diet, which will improve safety for motorists, pedestrians and people on bikes. Here is a Federal Highway Administration study showing the benefits of a road-diet: http://safety.fhwa.dot.gov/provencountermeasures/fhwa_sa_12_013.htm.

Be at the meeting in support of safer streets and better quality of life in the Bellaire-Puritas Neighborhood.
