“The operator of a vehicle overtaking another vehicle shall pass to the left at a safe distance and shall not again drive to the right until safely clear of the overtaken vehicle. When a motor vehicle overtakes and passes a bicycle, three feet or greater is considered a safe passing distance.”
Bike Cleveland works on behalf of cyclists across Greater Cleveland.
But we can’t do it alone, and we can't be everywhere -- we need local advocates to help us reach more people in the region at large!
To address this, we have created a chapter program for others to leverage us as a parent organization. As a local chapter of Bike Cleveland, chapters use their firsthand knowledge of their city and neighborhood to identify local bicycle and pedestrian issues and come up with local solutions. Local chapters are well-placed to cultivate community support through their connections with local residents, leaders, and merchants. Local chapters raise bicycle awareness in their areas by hosting rides and fun events, advocating for better infrastructure and more bicycle parking, urging their city councils to create or update their bicycle master plans, hosting safety courses, and a lot more!

If you are already working with other passionate bicycle advocates in your community, you should consider creating a local chapter and becoming a regional partner of Bike Cleveland. Bike Cleveland’s regional partners have the opportunity to meet, share ideas, and discuss advocacy concerns at our quarterly regional chapter meetings.
More than just collaboration, your group will receive numerous benefits when it becomes a chapter of Bike Cleveland. We provide advocacy training, financial support, printing and mailing services, and other resources. In addition, when members of the chapter community join Bike Cleveland, they also become members of their local chapter. By joining forces, we can improve bicycle infrastructure, promote rider safety, and make Greater Cleveland a safer, better-connected, and more bicycle-friendly region.
