Fatal Crash Kills Two, Injures Three

LeeAnne Lambert has set up a fund for Jim Lambert’s son Ryan, who is 15 years old.  It is not easy to find it so this is the search criteria to use:   “Go Fund Me Ryan Lambert‘s Educational Fund, Akron Ohio.”  This should bring it up.  It will say by LeeAnne Lambert (Ryan’s mother) and the picture when you get to the fund is Ryan with his Grandfather.

**UPDATE** 9/29/15

The motorist who struck and killed Jim Lambert and Matt Billings has been formally charged in relation to the collision. Timothy J. Wolf, 42, faces charges of two counts of vehicular homicide and one count of willful wanton disregard to public safety, which are all first degree misdemeanors.

Wolf has pleaded not guilty to the charges, and issued a statement of condolences through his attorneys to the victims families.

**UPDATE** 2:10pm 9/25/2015

It is with heavy hearts that we update you on the crash that occurred in Brecksville on September 17th. Jim Lambert, one of the riders who was critically injured,  passed on Thursday, September 24th. We will update this post with funeral arrangements when they are made available. Please keep the family and friends of Jim in your thoughts and prayers.

Details of the crash are still being investigated by the Brecksville Police Department.

A fund has been set up to help Matt’s 10 month old daughter. Per Akron Bicycle Club –
“Matt’s brother Brian has set up a fund at Key Bank in the name of Matts daughter, Evelyn Billings.  If you would like to assist Matt’s daughter please feel free to contribute to this fund.  If you know of others that might be interested in contributing please forward this message.

Here is the latest press release from the Brecksville PD –

“The Brecksville Police Department would like to provide additional information involving the crash that occurred in Brecksville on Snowville Road at Dewey Road involving a Ford pickup truck and five bicyclists.  One of the bicyclists, Matthew J. Billings, age 33 of Canton, Ohio was pronounced dead at the scene.  Four other bicyclists were injured and transported to area hospitals.   An investigation into the crash is ongoing and further updates will be provided at a later date.”


 

By now many of you have heard about the tragedy on Snowville Road in Brecksville last night. At 7:10 PM, a group of riders traveling east down Snowville Road were struck by a person traveling in a truck attempting to make a left hand turn onto Dewey Ave, leaving four injured and one dead. Two of the injured are still in a critical condition at Metro.

Details of the crash are still being investigated by Brecksville police, but the name of the victim is Matt Billings of Canton; an avid cyclist, member of the Akron Bicycle Club, husband and new father of a 10 month old. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family in this most difficult of times.
