Official Routes Released for MCPc Fundo p/b Bike Cleveland

Routes expand on inaugural year’s success.

CLEVELAND, OH – Bike Cleveland is excited to announce the official routes for the MCPc Fundo p/b Bike Cleveland as part of the second annual NEOCycle presented by Ohio Savings Bank. The event offers three route options for riders consisting of a 9 mile family route, a 31 mile half-metric century, and a more challenging 62 mile full-metric option. The MCPC Fundo will once again showcase many of Cleveland’s unique and dynamic neighborhoods, but the 2015 event goes a step further and will explore some of Cleveland’s suburbs as part of the full-metric route. To view the routes visit bikecleveland.org/fundoroutes/

The family route offers riders the chance to enjoy an easy pedal around the near west side and check out some of the coolest neighborhoods our city has to offer like Tremont, Ohio City, and passes through some of Cleveland’s industrial heritage including the new Cleveland Foundation Centennial Trail. The 31 mile route will have participants cruise through areas of downtown and wind their way past the Cleveland Cultural Gardens on the beautiful Martin Luther King Boulevard, before checking out what many are saying will be the next hot area in our city, the up and coming Broadway Slavic Village neighborhood. The half-metric route then funnels riders north along the picturesque Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail on their way back to The Hub at Edgewater Park. For riders looking for a bigger challenge, they can ride the 62 mile full-metric century and get out of town! This route highlights the distinctive personalities of different areas of Cleveland, and extends into both the eastern and western suburbs to give riders an expanded view of our area. The full-metric route includes five fully stocked rest stops to keep riders topped off as they explore all that our city has to offer. Riders can register for the event by visiting www.MCPcFundo.com.

The MCPc Fundo will take place September 13th as part of NEOCycle presented by Ohio Savings Bank. It is a casual, fun ride that exposes people of all ages and fitness levels to many of Cleveland’s unique neighborhoods by bicycle. With fully marked courses, the MCPc Fundo showcases Greater Cleveland as a safe, bicycle-friendly region and encourages people to get out and get healthy. This is a fully supported ride, meaning there will be multiple rest stops along the route. Support vehicles will be available to help if participants get a flat tire or experience other bike issues. The ride concludes at the NEOCycle Hub at Edgewater Park with live entertainment, food, drinks, and fellowship with other riders.

“Last year’s event was a huge success, so for this year we wanted to showcase more of the Greater Cleveland area in an effort to show that we’re more than segregated cities divided by invisible lines, but an interconnected region with shared assets and populations,” said Bike Cleveland Executive Director, Jacob VanSickle. “It is our hope that by exposing people to areas of Cleveland they might be unfamiliar with, and highlighting how close we are to each other, that people will come to think of Cleveland as something defined by more than municipal boundaries.”

The MCPc Fundo p/b Bike Cleveland is generously sponsored by MCPc Inc., with rest stops sponsored by the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District. Rest stop food provided by Velosano, Pan Ohio Hope Ride, and Door to Door Organics, while our bike shop partners are Century Cycles, Eddy’s Bike Shop, Joy Machines Bike Shop, and Spin Bike Shop.
