Help Shape The Future of Carnegie Avenue

MidTown Cleveland, with support from NOACA and other partners are working on a plan to re-envision the future of Carnegie Avenue. Part of the vision is to improve conditions for cyclists and pedestrians, and increase the connectivity and safety for all users.

As it is today Carnegie is a dangerous street. From 2015-2017, there were 737 crashes on Carnegie Avenue from E. 30th-E. 105th – 20 of which involved pedestrians or cyclists. This is unacceptable and now is our chance to plan a Carnegie Avenue that is safe for all users.

There is an Open House on Thursday, January 24th from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the PNC Fairfax Connection (8220 Carnegie Avenue). We encourage you to attend and share your experiences as a cyclist or pedestrian, and express your desires for a safe Carnegie Avenue.

One huge thing to consider:

There will soon be a 2-way Protected Bike Lane (Cycle Track) on Lorain Avenue reaching all the way from W65th that will link up to the multi-use path on the Lorain-Carnegie Bridge. Why should the safety end on the east side of the bridge? The network should continue down Carnegie, with robust connections north and south linking people biking and walking to neighborhoods around Carnegie Avenue.

Please take the time to learn more about the project, and complete MidTown’s Community Survey (which needs to be done before February 1st.)

But, don’t miss the Open House and your in-person chance to share your opinions and experiences.
