Peter Maurath’s Story

Hi, my name is Peter Maurath, I’m 47 and grew-up on the west side of Cleveland, lived there and then in Lakewood for five years before moving to Willoughby in 2015 to be closer to work. I have loved biking since I was a kid and took it up again as an adult when I needed to lose weight and get in shape. Initially I started small with a couple miles in the parks, but gradually, as I rediscovered how much I enjoyed cycling, I began building on it. Within a few years I decided to start cycle commuting in the summer, and later signing up for group events like the Bike Cleveland Fundo, Pedal to the Point, etc. By the time I moved to Lake county, cycling had become a major part of my life with participation in numerous events throughout the summer and bike-touring vacations to boot. In the last eight years I have even gotten to the point of cycle-commuting year round, not stopping for snow, cold, sleet or the like (still haven’t found my limit, yet!). It all boils down to the fact I just love biking. There’s nothing better for me than a beautiful summer day and a park trail stretching to the horizon. I take in the scenery, find peace, relieve stress and keep healthy, mentally and physically. It’s like I love biking and it loves me back by taking care of me.
