Bike Lane Sweeper Guide

BLSG

If you’re looking to volunteer and take out our Bike Lane Sweeper – you’re in the right place.

For your safety, and the proper operation of the sweeper, we need to make sure you know a few things before heading out. Please read through before attempting to attach the sweeper and head out on the road.

THE HITCH

The sweeper uses a standard Burley brand bicycle trailer mount (pictured below) that fits under your quick release on the left side. To check your bike’s compatibility, take this Burley quiz (you can skip past the email signup by answering “no thanks”) to see your result: Burley Hitch Guide

We suggest using a bike that fits this standard hitch, but if your bike needs one of Burley’s alternate adaptors or replacement axles – we ask that you purchase your own so you can participate.

OPERATING THE SWEEPER

Our model is a hybrid sweeper, meaning that it can be used in “pick up” mode or “push aside” mode depending on conditions. Please spend a few minutes on the Bike Lane Sweeper Instructions page – watch the video – and familiarize yourself with the sweeper, it’s parts, and adjustments so your efforts are rewarded with good performance. Not damaging the sweeper is also critical! Bike Lane Sweeper Instructions

PICK UP AND RETURN

The pick up and return process is still under final development, but we will put those steps here when ready. Home base will likely be at the Ohio City Bicycle CoOp, and we hope to have a text system in place that will allow you to arrive and take the sweeper out. For now, you can sign our waiver and get the first step out of the way. Bike Cleveland Waiver
