Classes & Talks
Bike Cleveland offers custom education programs for businesses, schools and organizations. Whether you’re a business looking to become more bike friendly, a school looking to teach your students how to bike safely, or a community that wants to provide residents education on how to get around your city by bike we have you covered.
Professional Development Rides
Bike Cleveland’s Professional Development Series helps transportation professionals and public agency staff design and build better, safer, and more useful bicycle and pedestrian facilities. Our goal is to improve the quality of bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure by educating professionals, sharing best practices, and providing real world experience of local facilities from the perspective of people who walk and bike. This program is geared towards any professional involved in the planning, design, and construction of bicycle and pedestrian facilities. To book a professional development ride with your city staff or leaders contact Diana Hildebrand at Diana@bikecleveland.org.
Silver Spokes
The Silver Spokes program is geared towards seniors. Through collaboration with the City of Cleveland’s Age-Friendly Cleveland Project we know that older adults are interested in cycling and gaining a better understanding of how to safely navigate streets with cyclists and newly installed bike facilities. According to the Age-Friendly assessment of older adults in the city of Cleveland, 37% are interested in participating in physical recreation activities, including cycling.
To accommodate this need Silver Spokes was established in 2018 with the Cleveland Department of Aging, the program includes a 45 minute discussion on bike safety and motor vehicle laws and 1-3 hour demonstration of types of senior accessible bikes.
Topics covered:
- How to decide what type of bike is best for an individual
- Introduction of bike safety
- Bicycle type demo
- Bike lane demo
- Minor bike repair
- Short neighborhood or trail ride
