2025 Ride of Silence | Cancelled

Weather Statement: Tonight’s Ride of Silence has been cancelled. The high likelihood of strong storms and reduced visibility on the roadway made this decision necessary for the safety of everyone involved. Even though we are not gathering in-person, we ask you to take this time to read our recent Crash Report post, consider the data and recommendations – and take one or both of the actions to get involved locally. Our aim is to reduce cyclist injuries and death to zero, and you can help play a role in that reaching that goal.
On Wednesday, May 21st – 2025 , join people from across Greater Cleveland (and the world) for the most important event of the year. Local cyclists will join others across the globe in a silent slow-paced ride in honor of vulnerable road users who have been injured or killed on our public roadways. Our recent Crash Report shows that in 2023, 550 people biking and walking were hit by motor vehicles in Cleveland – and the number for 2024 will be even greater.
There are 2 start locations for you choose from:
Option 1 | Ride from Downtown Cleveland – Meet at Willard Park (the Free Stamp) at 6:30PM. This will be a 5 mile (one way) on-street group ride escorted by the Cleveland Police Bicycle Division to University Hospitals. After a short presentation, riders are then free to find their way back to where they began. Groups tend to form organically for the return ride.
Option 2 | Ride from University Heights – Meet at the John Carroll parking lot off Carroll Blvd next to the Dolan Science Center at 6:30PM. This will be a 5 mile (one way) on-street group ride led by the Heights Bicycle Coalition to University Hospital. After a short presentation, riders are then free to find their way back to where they began, or return with the group.
The Ride Of Silence asks participants to ride no faster than 12 mph and remain silent during the ride. There are no brochures, no sponsors and no registration fees. A short presentation at the end point allows those that wish to speak about how traffic violence has affected them the opportunity to share their story.
Please, help the event grow by inviting those you feel would like to participate via the Facebook Event.
