This is a good photo. Let’s make a better one for 2015!

Location: Deaconess Krafft Center, 3105 Devonshire Road in Old Brooklyn.

Cleveland’s cycling community is once again raising food for disadvantaged families and senior citizens this holiday season!

Pedal for Prizes and Bike Cleveland are hosting Cleveland’s fourth-annual Cranksgiving, a fun bicycle food drive taking place at Deaconess Krafft Center, 3105 Devonshire Road in Old Brooklyn. The event is free.

At Cranksgiving, cyclists of all ages and skill levels receive a map of nearby grocery stores.  Participants are challenged to ride their bikes to about four of the stores to purchase one or more food items specified for each.  Everything purchased must be hauled by bicycle, either in a bag, pannier, rack, or trailer.  They will return to donate the food they collect to area hunger programs. Cyclists likely spend about $15 (or however much they can) and ride fifteen miles.

If you would like to support the event, but are not able to bike, there are a few options.  Bring your nonperishable food items or toiletries to Deaconess Krafft Center on November 21 between 10:00 AM and noon.  You can even have a mini-food drive of your own and bring food you collect from your family, friends, and coworkers. Families are also welcome to do the event by car or walking, if need be.

Or, you can donate to Bike Cleveland at bikecleveland.org/donate (please specify the donation is for Cranksgiving) and a Bike Cleveland volunteer will fetch groceries on your behalf.

See below for additional details, and don’t forget to share the Facebook Event with your friends!
