ABOUT FRONT TRIENNIAL

Launched in 2018, FRONT International: Cleveland Triennial for Contemporary Art is a free, contemporary art festival of artist commissions, exhibitions, performances, films, and public programs that takes place across Cleveland, Akron, and Oberlin every three years. Delayed in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, FRONT returns July 16 to October 2, 2022 in an exhibition titled, Oh, Gods of Dust and Rainbows. The exhibition title draws inspiration from literary giant Langston Hughes, who called Cleveland home during his formative years and maintained an artistic connection to the region. Participating local, national and international artists were invited to create works that consider and explore art’s role as an agent of transformation, a mode of healing, and a therapeutic process (from dust to rainbows). Experience FRONT this summer at 30+ venues across Northeast Ohio, including the Akron Art Museum, Cleveland Museum of Art, Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland (moCa), Allen Memorial Art Museum (Oberlin College), SPACES, Transformer Station, and Cleveland Public Library branches. ABOUT CAN TRIENNIAL

CAN Triennial is a regionally focused contemporary art exhibition featuring Northeast Ohio artists. Conceived in 2016, the inaugural CAN Triennial took place in 2018. This multi-venue exhibition is organized in collaboration with a diverse team of curators who have assembled more than a dozen exhibitions that will offer an experiential journey representing this moment in time, place, and history in Cleveland. Experience CAN Triennial this summer at 15+ venues including the Morgan Conservatory, Zygote Press, The Sculpture Center, Graffiti HeArt, Brick Ceramic + Design Studio, and Waterloo Arts.
