Coming up this week

Hopefully you had the chance to learn some new repair skills, discover neighborhoods that may not be familiar to you by bike, ride for charity, or simply get around and have fun on two wheels.

If you attended one of the many Cleveland bike events last weekend, please leave a comment and tell us about your experience.

Like last weekend, this weekend is full of some great bicycle-related events:

• Find or make the shortest shorts you possibly can for The Hot Pants Bike Ride happening Saturday, August 20 at 7pm. In your hot pants, you’ll ride to different destinations around Cleveland to hang out, mingle with other bike lovers, and show off your legs. This free event is hosted by Crank Set Rides, which specializes in organizing fun themed bike rides. For more information about the ride, please click here.

Photographer Frank Lanza is poised to organize Cleveland’s first known bike move. What exactly is a bike move, you ask? Watch this video and this one. A bike move takes place at least once every month in Portland, so why not try it in Cleveland?

Frank thinks it’s not only cool and sustainable to transport his possessions across Lakewood using mostly pedal power, but it also demonstrates the solidarity of the local bicycling community. Frank needs cyclists with trailers and racks, so if you have either (or even if you don’t), please consider helping out for a couple of hours. More information is here.

Have a bicycling-related event not listed here? Please leave us a comment with information below.

Check the recently updated Bike Cleveland calendar for future events.
