Help Us Transform Cleveland

Collage-600x267

Imagine children safely walking and biking to school, families comfortably biking to a nearby park, neighbors running errands by bike, a community where biking and walking are just a normal part of daily life.  This is the vision behind Bike Cleveland’s relentless efforts to make Greater Cleveland a more bikeable and walkable community. We see the transformational impact of walking and biking each and every day and ask you to support Bike Cleveland as we transform our vision for a more walkable and bikeable community into a reality.

Thanks to the support of members, donors, and volunteers like you, 2023 saw the following accomplishments:

  • Expanded staff team with the addition of a community organizer dedicated to supporting neighborhood traffic calming and growing our bike network.
  • Educational rides with 11 city and county leaders through our Bike With a Mayor initiative, through which elected officials experienced current street conditions firsthand.
  • Installed 15 crosswalks and 2 bump-outs to increase safety around schools and parks through our Better Street Committees.
  • Sparked a passion for biking among the 550 youth engaged in our summer camps and school-based education programs.
  • Distributed over 150 lights to riders through our Random Acts of Brightness program, making their nighttime riding safer.
  • United over 8,000 people in our shared mission through community events like Bike to Work Day, the Bike Cleveland Fundo, Roll to the Polls, and community rides.
  • Trained 30 community members and 15 professionals in how to advance local bike & pedestrian projects through our Winning Campaigns Training and ongoing Mobility Learning Sessions for Community Development Corporations.
  • Supported the passage of important legislation including Back to Basics infrastructure funding, Transit-Oriented Development reforms and funding of a citywide Mobility Plan to advance the vision of a 15-minute city.

While we are very proud of our achievements, our work is far from complete. Critical gaps remain in our bike network, even along some of our high injury corridors, and protected bike lanes are absent where they are needed most. Serious injuries and death continue to occur, tragically reminding us of the importance of our mission.

This is how you can help. Your donation to Bike Cleveland will fund the following 2024 initiatives:

  • Collaboration with the City of Cleveland and community members to craft the City’s first Mobility Plan to expand and connect our bike network and sustained advocacy for its rapid implementation.
  • Advocacy for both increased traffic calming measures on our most dangerous streets and securing implementation funding for the City’s Vision Zero Action Plan.
  • Empowerment of residents to take safety into their own hands through resident-led traffic calming and street painting projects.
  • Expansion of our youth education programs to cultivate the next generation of bike commuters through school-based programs and summer bike camps.
  • Growth in opportunities for people to connect through advocacy trainings, community rides, socials, and events.

Bike Cleveland is tireless in its efforts to ensure that the voices of cyclists are heard, and our leaders are held accountable. We won’t rest until Cleveland is a place where bicycle travel is safe, stress-free, convenient, and enjoyable for all. Your contribution today will help us build even more inclusive programs, expand our influential advocacy network for safer streets, and begin 2024 stronger than ever.
