NOACA Seeking Guidance for Long Range Transportation Plan
The Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA) are developing a long range transportation plan (LRTP) for their five-county service area in Northeast Ohio. NOACA are bound by federal law to develop a 20 year outlook on the needs of the region’s transportation system. The LRTP is a fiscally constrained budget, meaning it needs to consider the $13 billion in future revenue NOACA is currently slated to receive over the next 20 years. Beyond this, NOACA want to create a vision for Northeast Ohio’s transportation network that “prioritizes the maintenance of a desirable quality of life in the region” and “identifies other issues (related to the transportation system) not currently being considered.”
“The transportation system belongs to everyone in Northeast Ohio, and we want to make it safe, accessible and convenient for everyone,” says NOACA Executive Director Grace Gallucci. “We also want this Long Range Transportation Plan to be catalytic – to maximize the return on every public dollar invested such that transportation plays its proper role in supporting economic growth in our region and sustaining an attractive and enviably high quality of life.”
Part of this process is to gather input from local stakeholders and the public. To that end they are hosting a series of public meetings that stakeholders and the general public are invited to attend.
