Random Acts of Brightness – Nov 9, 2020
Date: Nov 09, 2020
Time: 5:00PM - 8:00PM

Since 2012, Bike Cleveland and volunteers have been giving away hundreds of free bike lights annually through our Random Acts of Brightness program. On Monday, November 9th from 5pm-8pm Bike Cleveland will host a modified Random Acts of Brightness event through a pop-up event (with an opportunity for folks to ride around and distribute lights too, read below).

The Random Acts of Brightness pop-up will be located in Downtown Cleveland on Public Square and in University Circle at Toby’s Plaza (in front of moCa). Bike Cleveland staff and volunteers will provide bike lights until time or supplies run out (whichever comes first). Unlit cyclists will be flagged down and called over so we can install front and rear light sets on their bikes.

Cyclists who stop by will also receive Bike Cleveland’s Biking in Cleveland Guide (a book that tells you the basics of biking safely) and a Cuyahoga County Bike Map.

EVENT DETAILS:

Disclaimer: Random Acts of Brightness will be operating outdoors, but we will require you to wear a mask as you approach our staff and volunteers, and observe social distancing using the lineup markings provided.

To receive your free lights, please be sure to bring your UNLIT BIKE, as we cannot give you a pair of lights without a bike present. We do this to ensure that we are distributing lights that can be put to use on bikes immediately.

Interested in volunteering? If you are interested in doing our traditional Random Acts of Brightness, where you ride around and hand out lights to people who are unlit, bring a group of people from your inner circle to one of our pop-up locations and we will give you some lights to hand out. Be sure to bring a backpack or pannier to carry the lights.

We are also looking for a few people interested in volunteering at the pop-up distribution to wave down cyclists and install lights. If you want to volunteer you can sign-up here. All volunteers must agree to our COVID-19 safety acknowledgement found here.
