May Is Bike Month!

May is National Bicycle Month, and along with the League of American Bicyclists we urge you to get outside and spend some quality time on your bike!

Here’s a quick roundup of what’s going on:

All Month: Gohio Commute CAR(bon) FREE and Bike Month ChallengeMore Details – The Gohio Commute Challenge is BACK beginning May 1! Weekly and overall prizes are available, and up to FOUR non-SOV trips eligible! Get Ready, Get Set – Go CAR(bon) FREE.

May 1st: National Ride a Bike Day! This one is easy – you know what to do 🙂 Tag us or use #CLEBikeMonth so we can share your joy!

May 6th: RiverSweep Morgana Run Trail More Details – We’re partnering with Canalway Partners and The Boy Scouts of America Lake Erie Council to clean up a section of the Morgana Run Trail and the Morgana Bluffs. Bike Cleveland and Canalway Partners will supply the tools, gloves & garbage bags, just bring yourself and a friend!

May 17th: Ride of SilenceMore Details – Join people from across Greater Cleveland (and the world) for the most important event of the year. Local cyclists will join others across the globe in a silent slow-paced ride in honor of vulnerable road users who have been injured or killed on our public roadways.

May 19th: Bike to Work Day!More Details – Celebrate Bike to Work Day in May at Public Square! Nothing beats meeting up with all of Cleveland’s bike folks in the heart of downtown. We’ll have hot coffee and delicious donuts by Jack Frost for bicycle commuters as we take this morning to celebrate the transformative power of riding to work by bicycle. There is also a meetup in University Circle!

May 20th: Pedal for PrizesMore Details – While the scavenger hunt versions were fun and a good way to help get through the pandemic and social distancing, they are thrilled to be going back to the original format. This year the ride will start at Old Brooklyn’s newest recreational green space – Brighton Park.

May 23rd: Film Screening | The Street ProjectMore Details – Join us at Forest City Brewery for a viewing of The Street Project, a new documentary that highlights the global, citizen-led fight to make our streets safer.
