Book Bike Storytime Returns for Summer 2026
This summer, families around Lakewood can spot Miss Emily’s Book Bike rolling into parks and community events with stories, songs, and free books for children.
Created by librarian and longtime storytime presenter Emily Lindberg, the Book Bike is Emily’s personal cargo bike transformed into a traveling storytime space, bringing books and literacy directly into the community by bicycle. What began as a response to the isolation of the pandemic has since become a familiar part of summer for many Lakewood families.
The project reflects many of the values Bike Lakewood promotes: using bicycles as practical everyday transportation, creating community connections in public spaces, and helping normalize bicycling as part of everyday community life.
Throughout the summer, Book Bike Storytimes will take place every other Thursday at Cove Park in partnership with the Lakewood Family Room, as well as after select Kidical Mass rides sponsored by Beat Cycles. Emily is also a League Cycling Instructor and will be available before Kidical Mass rides to answer bicycle safety questions and provide helmet fittings.
