ACTION ALERT: Contact Ohio House Opposing HB 288

Ohio House Bill 288 (HB 288) would prohibit the use of eminent domain by any agency for the purpose of constructing recreational trails. It is currently in the Ohio House Civil Justice Committee.

HB288 threatens the ability of future generations to improve and expand trail systems by hindering the government’s ability to assemble the property needed to create safe and continuous trails. The bill singles out trail authorities and would continue to allow the government to seize property for industrial uses, highways, and other uses – but wouldn’t allow so much as an easement for a natural trail to be acquired in the same way.

Contact members of the House Civil Justice Committee using our petition tool below (or call them directly, phone numbers are below the petition) and tell them that you support preserving the authority that has allowed Ohio to create many transportation and recreational trails that benefit communities and people of all ages. You can add your personal thoughts or story to the petition below.
