Lakewood Bike With a Leader

Lakewood - BWAM

Riders of all ages and abilities are invited to join Lakewood City Council members, County leaders, and Bike Lakewood on a guided bike ride as part of the County’s “Bike with a Leader” series.

The “Bike with a Leader” series aims to provide residents with the opportunity to engage in physical activity with their elected leaders while also learning about their city’s dedication to providing safe bike routes and trails for year-round enjoyment. Lakewood recently adopted an Active Transportation Plan that envisions a complete and connected network for people walking and biking that provides year-round access to local amenities, resources, and the regional bicycle and pedestrian network.

The ride will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Madison Park (13201 Madison Ave, Lakewood, OH 44107). The route will travel through Lakewood on streets identified in the Active Transportation Plan for new or improved bike lanes and will be roughly 5 miles.

The ride will travel on Bunts Rd, which is planned for major biking and pedestrian improvements, as well as Lake Ave which is part of the Cuyahoga Greenways network, which is a system of existing and future trails and bikeways that aims to expand opportunities for commuting, recreation and exercise. Riders will learn about how these sites came to fruition, as well as future planned connections and trails. Lakewood’s own Trikeable Treat’s will be there with ice cream after the ride!

Helmets are required for all riders, and sunscreen and sunglasses are recommended! Watch this video for a quick safety check to make sure your bike is ready to roll.

The ride will be at a very slow pace, on streets with and without bike lanes. Join us to learn about and discuss biking improvements in Lakewood with our City Leaders!
