Show Your Support for the Solon to Chagrin Falls Trail
The City of Solon has applied for Clean Ohio Trail Funding to support the development of Phase I of the Solon to Chagrin Falls multi-purpose trail. Completion of this project would significantly advance the long-standing goal of achieving a continuous trail connection between Solon, Bentleyville, Chagrin Falls Village and the larger region, utilizing the former Chagrin Falls and Southern Railroad right-of-way. Phase I involves the installation of approximately 2 miles of trail, with the trailhead in the center of Solon’s downtown commercial area and progressing eastward to near the border with the Village of Bentleyville. The proposed trail fills a gap in a priority linkage to other major Northeast regional trail systems and will eventually connect to Portage and Summit County trails via a nearby Norfolk-Southern railway line. The completed trail will link people in the Solon area to popular recreational and tourism areas such as the nearby Cleveland Metroparks South Chagrin Reservation and downtown Chagrin Falls Village, with the goal to eventually connect to Cuyahoga Valley National Park and Cleveland via a linkage to the Towpath Trail system.
