Lake to Lakes Shaker Segment – Public Meeting

The City Shaker Heights is hosting a second public meeting about their segment of the Lake to Lakes trail to address concerns raised by the cycling community. The meeting was announced following a letter submitted by Bike Shaker that outlined concerns with the proposed trail alignment and the need for more community input. You can read the letter submitted by Bike Shaker to the city of Shaker Heights here.

The meeting is taking place:

When: Wednesday, August 27th at 5:30pm
Where: Shaker Heights City Hall, Council Chambers (3400 Lee Rd, Shaker Heights, OH)

Concerns raised by the cycling community include the trail alignment, how the trail crosses Fairhill, and other safety concerns related to how the trail will interact with automobile traffic.

From Bike Shaker’s letter, “the main purpose of the Lake to Lakes Trail is to create an environment that is safe for pedestrians and cyclists for transportation and recreation. Because these users are most vulnerable at intersections and street crossings it should be a priority to make the intersections of the Lake to Lakes Trail as safe as possible.” We could not agree more, and encourage you to attend the public meeting so we can ensure the Lake to Lakes Trail is a safe place for people of all ages and abilities to ride a bike.

You can invite your friends to the meeting on Facebook.
