Bring a Bike Lakewood Group Ride to Your School

On September 17, 2026, 31 Roosevelt Elementary students, family members, Bike Lakewood volunteers, and Lakewood neighborhood police officers came together for an afternoon of bike safety and group riding. After a safety lesson and a practice ride through the neighborhood, the group rode together to Madison Park, where the Roosevelt PTA had popsicles waiting for us.

It was a great opportunity for students and families to build their riding skills, gain confidence riding together on the road, and have some fun along the way.

The ride was such a great experience that we’re already hearing interest in bringing similar rides to other Lakewood schools!

Bike Lakewood is now accepting applications from Lakewood K–8 schools, PTAs, and PTOs interested in co-hosting a neighborhood group bike ride for their school community.

These rides are designed to give students and their families an opportunity to practice biking together and learn skills they can use on the way to school, around their neighborhood, and anywhere else they ride.

Each event includes an age-appropriate bicycle safety lesson led by a League Cycling Instructor (LCI) certified by the League of American Bicyclists, followed by a group ride through the neighborhood. Bike Lakewood will also invite Lakewood Police Department neighborhood officers to participate when their schedules permit.
