Bike Chagrin Valley is a Chapter of Bike Cleveland and was founded in April 2018 by a group of cyclists from Chagrin Falls, Bainbridge, Russell, South Russell, Moreland Hills, Orange, Solon and Beachwood.
Our goal is to promote cycling and bike safety in the Chagrin Valley. Part of this includes a goal to get more people riding bikes by hosting ride events. We currently host a family-friendly neighborhood ride the third Sunday of every month in one of our Chagrin Valley Communities. Our rides are modeled after the “Slow Roll” rides and are designed for all ages and ability levels. There is no cost for our neighborhood rides, but all riders will be required to sign a Bike Cleveland waiver.
The other part of our goal involves advocating for cycling infrastructure in the Chagrin Valley and advising communities on how to improve their “bike friendliness.” We plan to help communities look for opportunities to improve their cycling infrastructure by adding bike lanes, improving striping, installing bike racks, promoting bike tourism, or adding additional trails.
Our founding group includes a wide range of cyclists from the Chagrin Valley including a bike shop owner, a spin studio owner, a Bike Cleveland Board Member, people who commute to work by bike (one from Beachwood to Hiram), the head of a year-round cycling club, and several who can regularly be seen in the area pulling young kids in bike trailer.
