BIKE THERE on September 22nd
Date: Sep 21, 2020  - Sep 23, 2020

“This September 21-27, and specifically on September 22, we are encouraging everyone to Bike There, wherever that there may be. Bike to Work, yes. Bike with friends, yes. Bike to an errand, yes. Bike to a Bicycle Friendly Business, yes. Bike around your neighborhood and back to your home, yes. Any bike, anywhere, it all counts. We just want to bike together and inspire each other to do this simple act that means so much to our lives and our future.” – Bill Nesper, League of American Bicyclists

All year we have watched as our organized rides, and those of others, get cancelled due to COVID. It’s certainly sad, but at the same time we have seen bicycle shops sell out of bikes, helmets, and all the popular items as people reach to the unparalleled simplicity and joy of bicycling. Biking to work, to run errands, or just for the simple sanity of being outdoors enjoying nature. We’ve known this all along – so it’s refreshing to watch the country embrace our favorite machine this way.

So, along with the League of American Bicyclists, we’re asking you to #BikeThere as #BikesUnite on Tuesday, September 22nd. Here are some ideas if you don’t already have a daily ride planned:

Bike to Breakfast! We’ve partnered with The Cleveland Bagel Company to provide riders that arrive on bikes to get a FREE cup of coffee on Tuesday! They have locations on both sides of town, and their bagel sandwiches will keep you pedaling for miles and miles. They are open from 6:30am-1:00pm at both their Detroit Avenue and Carnegie Avenue locations. Just bring in your helmet and ask for the deal!

Bike a New Park! It’s easy to get in a rut and ride the same route all the time. Why not explore a new Cleveland Metroparks All-Purpose Trail that you haven’t been to yet? Or, pull out the mountain bike and head to one of the excellent singletrack venues they have.

Bike to Cleveland Murals! Earlier this year, we put together a route that takes you past some amazing local art. Take a few hours and go check them out. Map and details on the Cleveland Murals page.

Bike to the Cleveland Script Signs! The Cleveland Script Signs have become icons to both locals and tourists alike. Take a spin that routes to all of them (minus the one inside the airport of course).

Bike to Cleveland Historical Sites! Take a bike ride to visit significant sites of international or world significance in Cleveland. These are places that make Cleveland a unique blend of industry, places, craft and most of all, warm and caring people.

Bike to Soon-To-Be-Completed Infrastructure Projects! The photos below are current as of Friday, September 18th. It’s fun to watch the Towpath and connector trails into Cleveland come together, and people are always curious as to exactly where they are. So here’s a good chance to go see them for yourselves. Just hit each link for a Google Pin to the location, set your phone to “bike” mode, and go check them out!
