Cranksgiving Gives Back Again!

On Saturday, November 20th, riders from the Cleveland area descended upon Lakewood Truck Park for the 10th annual Cranksgiving – a food drive by bicycle. Cool yet clear weather conditions made for a fantastic turnout, and bikes, trailers, and all manner of carrying methods crowded the courtyard of the venue. After a brief check-in and snack, riders checked their maps and made a plan before heading out to make purchases for families in need this holiday season.

It didn’t take long for the donations to begin filling the two large picnic tables set aside for the purpose. Rider after rider returned, dropped off their purchases, and headed back out to gather more. It is always inspiring to see this generosity in action, and the tables reach an incredible level of fullness after just a few hours.

The day concludes, as it always does, with a traditional group photo. Based on simple tally of receipts, these riders purchased over $3500 in much needed items in just under 3 hours – all by bicycle. We thank Bike Lakewood for being the chapter host this year, and Lakewood Truck Park for generously offering their space and hospitality to our riders.
